Blurring boundaries from different perspectives, Vito and Bato created a visual narrative that bridges Indonesian and Filipino cultures in the first installment of their exhibition, Familiar Landscape. In that exhibition, the artists collaborated on works that explored cultural differences while grounding their dialogue in the similarities shaped by their shared experiences.

In this second iteration, both artists revisit their practices seven years after the initial show. This collaborative presentation reflects on the shifts in their artistic journeys, how their themes, methods, and interests have evolved, while still seeking common ground amidst these changes.

Vito, drawing from his background in character design and illustration, captures the essence of landscape by translating emotional responses into his character-driven imagery. Bato, on the other hand, continues to investigate how we assign meaning to spaces and how these spaces transform through lived experience, expressed through his varied forms of spatial exploration. Together, their works form a visual conversation that navigates through shifting voices, differing tones, and layered perceptions. It is a dialogue of differences that still feels intimately familiar.

Though both have varying perceptions, both artists root their perspectives in their lived realities. This parallax reflects the direction of their practices: seeing from distinct vantage points, expressing through different visual languages, yet remaining parallel in their response to the recognizable familiar landscape.
